I have a difficult time believing the sinfonia and capriccio were written by a human mind with a human hand. I have no doubt that God was playing through Bach.

If I've said it before, I'll say it again, Ton Koopman is monstrously overrated. This is one of the worst renditions of 546 I have ever heard by a professional. The registration, virtuosity, rhythm, clarity and pacing of Koopman, are that of an extreme amateur. I've just finished a bottle of wine, but it is this performance, rather than the wine, that is making me want to wretch.

I'm a little bit put off by this fellow speeding up his vibrato like a Leslie Organ speaker, on an old Hammond B-3, starting at a slow tempo then building to a rather snipped end... this isn't a piece of Pop music. I wonder what Johann would've thought...

The opening oboe melody bears a resemblance to "Erbarme dich, mein Gott" in St.Matthew Passion, like soft cry, trembling murmur in pain, begging for mercy in God

As a Catholic, I thank God for the Reformation. Without it we may not have had a JS Bach. Cantata BWV 51 is a jewel. I wonder if Bach had a woman soprano to sing this, or a boy soprano from the Thomas school. The level of musicianship must have been stunning. Well done Netherlands Bach Society.
